CILLA THOMPSON

CILLA THOMPSON

Industry Experience: Cilla has been a familiar and dominant player in the media industry for 21 years. She can proudly say she co-owned the first black model agency in SA called, Look Ahead Models.

Cilla started her media industry at Mail & Guardian in 2002. After that with a proven track record, she was asked to join the Times Media team as the project manager for Sunday Times and Lifestyle Magazines. During her 10 tenure, her hard work paid off as she worked my way up to Chief Sales Officer for the Times Media Group. Cilla moved to follow her passion and dreams, and work with fashion and beauty titles as the sales and publisher for Associate Media. It was here that she got to work side by side Julia and Jane Raphaely, whom she describes as her mentors and icons of the media industry.

Whilst employed at Elle Magazine, Cilla had the fortunate opportunity to work on a project and meet both David Beckham and Antonio Banderas. She has pictures to back up her story and describes this as the highlight of her career.

Whilst working on magazines Cilla launched the TV series called Project Runway SA, it was such a success that she is now convinced that TV is the way to go. She more recently made a decision to join G2 and is a tremendous asset to the team. Cilla describes this as one of the best decisions she has made as she gets to work with the most amazing colleagues, production houses and clients. Cilla sells new and innovative top tv series productions. G2 does not sell TV shows but rather a campaign that is an integrated marketing campaign for her clients.
